About
We are a project-based modern dance and performing arts company in NYC.
Founded in 2013 to serve the vision and work of Artistic Director, Karen Harvey, the company provides live performances, productions, media and interactive programs. For a public that has an aptitude for arts & culture although not necessarily dance. To engage, inspire and build enthusiasm among new audiences. We place a priority on visceral experience, emotional intelligence and motion rather than on form or conceptual ideas.
Background: Karen is classically trained in Contemporary Dance, Choreography and a self-taught Director. She is also experienced in avant-garde, site-specific and multidisciplinary performance as well as collaborations and theatrical production.

ARTISTIC MISSION
"What I love about dance, is that it's an intangible art form that primarily happens in a moment and then you can't hold onto it - yet it effects you, transforms you or you respond to it in a deep way. I'm driven to create visually moving and emotionally rich works of art. With a priority on visceral experience, emotional intelligence and motion rather than on material form, technical virtuosity or conceptual ideas. I have a fascination of the sensual, the ancient and very often the simple aspects of life and am invested in the possibilities of live performance as a contemporary ritual. Through the effect it has on the evolution of communities as well as the deeply personal impression it makes on individuals. My creative process is instinctual, guided by an inner impression for each work and by allowing it to develop through a series of “performance experiments” that happen over time. Where the individual performers, original or live music, underlying rhythm, experimentation, a collaborative process, philosophy, imagery and the environment created... all play important roles. Often utilizing diverse / multi-disciplinary casts, with an emphasis on global modern culture and on giving expression to the heart. It is through the process of making dances that I seek to uncover truths from a fresh perspective, as well as respond to issues of Globalization, Environmentalism and Personalism. My work is the discovery of what’s hidden beneath the surface and is innately an expression of myself." -Karen
